Police Pull over a Semi Truck and Find 174 Defaced Firearms and 368 Pounds of Heroin

October 01, 2026•2 min read

What police in Michigan discovered inside a semi truck would soon lead to a big police investigation. Police pulled over the driver on September 24, 2026, at around 2 pm. What was originally a roadside inspection became a big bust for illegal contraband.

State troopers found 174 defaced firearms and 368 pounds of heroin, found in 92 bundles inside a tractor-trailer. This was originally a routine traffic stop, but it shows you why this type of enforcement moves beyond simple safety and equipment violations. While state troopers were doing a standard inspection, they uncovered something far more.

The male truck driver police pulled over with this shipment has now been placed under arrest and faces drug trafficking and weapons charges. Police officials did not say the identity of the driver of the truck. This is because the incident continues to be under investigation.

Why Would a Weapon Be Defaced?

When criminals deface a gun, they do it to prevent police from tracing it to locations or people. Commonly, guns like this will be used in crimes. These are serious crimes because guns are only used for one thing—and that’s shooting. And someone wanted to cover up the fact that they were shooting.

You never want to hold a gun like this because not only is it a felony to deface a gun, but having the gun could wind up linking you to a murder or shooting that you had nothing to do with.

Where the Seizure Took Place

Police pulled the driver over around 45 miles from Grand Rapids, near Marshall in Calhoun County, on Interstate 69. This highway is a major route connecting with Indiana and continuing all the way to Canada.

After the arrest, police officers are trying to determine the origin of the contraband as well as the intended destination.

They’re trying to determine whether what they uncovered is part of a broader criminal network.

Enormous Potential Value of the Heroin

Police officials have not released a potential value of the street value of the heroin, but if you paid $500,000 per kilogram and there are 167 kilograms (368 pounds), this shipment alone could represent up to $83.5 million in heroin. Just remember, this is only an estimate, and the value will depend on the location, cut, and distribution method, but it’s a big amount regardless.

The investigation is ongoing. There are still more lab tests that need to be done to confirm that the substance is heroin. For those who might have any information related to the case, you are encouraged to dial their anonymous tip line at 269-982-8664.
